To remain competitive and a future key player in the global market, companies must be at the forefront of digital transformation and adopt sustainable production methods. Combining physical production and operations with smart digital technology, machine learning and Big Data, so called Smart Manufacturing, creates a more holistic and better connected ecosystem for a company's manufacturing and supply chain process.
Sweden, despite being a small country, has managed to become a well-known and trusted brand within the manufacturing landscape by continuing to serve the ASEAN market with innovative and sustainable products and services. However, the ASEAN countries are not far behind at all. With a number of bilateral and multilateral FTAs in place, they have positioned themselves as a global manufacturing centre. Singapore, Malaysa, Thailand and Indonesia already have national strategies regarding Smart Manufacturing in place, which makes this region very important to keep an eye on.
