Event Details

Hong Kong is an important international business hub for Swedish companies, with players active across a multitude of industries, including financial services, retail, and creative industries. It is also a key city in the Greater Bay Area initiative in South China, linking together nine cities and the two Special Administrative Regions (SAR) Hong Kong and Macau. Major areas of opportunity in the region include technology for sustainable real-estate development and prop-tech, smart grid, health care, life science and elderly care, as well as fin-tech and B2B technologies applicable in consumer products, automotive and several more.

During the past 12 months, we have seen some dramatic developments in Hong Kong, starting with the rise of the demonstrations in 2019, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the beginning of 2020 and China passing the controversial national security law for Hong Kong a few months ago. Although this has had a massive impact on the geopolitical landscape, Swedish companies based in Hong Kong have been quick to respond to the new challenges, implementing new ways of doing business while adopting a wait-and-see-approach.

In this webinar Johan Lennefalk, Office Manager, and Anna Zhan, Strategy Consultant, at Business Sweden Hong Kong will share insights on the reality for Swedish companies on the ground as well as the opportunities going forward, given the changes in the political climate. By presenting some of the findings from the newly released Business Climate Survey, they will also explain recent developments in Hong and the impact these have had on Swedish businesses.
