Event Details

In 2020 working from home became the norm for most of us. Going into 2021, we are still anticipating a disruption in how the workforce will operate. Are the changes temporary or lasting? Once possible, will people want to return to the office? And if they do return, what should our 'new normal' office look like?

To answer some of these questions, we are delighted to have Michael Björn, Head of Research at Ericsson, and Mike King, Deputy Managing Director at IKEA Southeast Asia with us for a webinar on The New Office. Mr Björn will give us a potential glimpse of what the future office may look like, whereas Mr King will focus on a current approach to the new office and a flexible working style.

IKEA on Working from work and working from home - two sides to a new story

After many months of working from home, office workers at IKEA Singapore were recently welcomed back to a very different office. Mr King will give us a view on how IKEA has refurbished the office workspace to embrace a new flexible style of safe working in the age of COVID. Concepts like the hot-desking system and the desk-booking app will be explained. How do you make the option of working from home or working from the office efficient for your employees? Smart solutions like the RÅSKOG trolley, taken directly taken from the IKEA collection, is just one way of enhancing the flexible workspace.

Ericsson on The Dematerialized Office - white-collar employees expect an Internet of Senses in their future office

Mr Björn will share some of the findings from the Ericsson IndustryLab study, in which early adopter white-collar employees were surveyed on their expectations of the workplace of 2030. What are the challenges and opportunities when employees can work remotely using all their senses digitally – vision, sound, touch, taste, smell, and more? What are the implications if and when the full-sense digital enterprise – enabled by 5G and technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) – becomes a reality? Furthermore, he will explain and discuss the main drivers for using the Internet of Senses at work, which includes efficiency gains, sales, and environmental benefits – as well as some of the barriers, where privacy issues stand out as of particular importance.
