Carbon markets are financial systems designed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by assigning a monetary value to carbon. They function by creating and trading "carbon credits" or "allowances," each typically representing one metric ton of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2โ€‹e) reduced or removed from the atmosphere. These markets serve as a crucial mechanism for both companies and countries on their journey to net-zero emissions, a state where an equivalent amount of carbon removal balances any remaining emissions.

Join us for this knowledge session with Anna Stablum, Director, Business Development Asia at ClimeCo, as she explores the role of carbon markets and how companies and countries can leverage carbon credits on the path to net-zero. Anna brings extensive expertise in metals, iron ore, and carbon, along with a deep understanding of economic fundamentals, market dynamics, trading practices, and key platforms. Her insights are further strengthened by her perspective on the buyer's side of the market.

In this session, Anna will address the following key topics:

  • The climate crisis, the Paris Agreement, and the evolution of carbon markets, with a focus on Asia
  • Compliance vs. voluntary markets: What's the difference, and how can they work in tandem?
  • Case studies from Singapore: Implementing a carbon tax under the Paris Agreement
  • Voluntary initiatives: How companies can use carbon credits to meet net-zero targets.

  • 8:30-9:30 am: Presentation by Anna Stablum, Director, Business Development Asia at ClimeCo
