Visit to Ericsson / Singtel 5G Garage

Singtel​ - in partnership with Ericsson​ - became the first operator to launch 5G standalone in Singapore. In 2022, the companies announced surpassing the regulatory target of 95% standalone 5G nationwide coverage, accomplishing this feat three years ahead of the scheduled deadline set for 2025.

To facilitate the integration of applications into the new network, Singtel, Ericsson, and Singapore Polytechnic (SP)​ jointly launched the 5G and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) Centre​ and the 5G Garage​ in 2019. This initiative aims to nurture and expand the B2B ecosystem by fostering collaboration and innovation on Singapore's inaugural 5G standalone trial network located on the SP campus. Over time, the Center and the Garage have evolved into a crucial hub to assist and enable enterprises to prototype and adopt 5G & AIoT innovation solutions. It provides Singapore's first test facility onto a live 5G network to enable development and testing of 5G solutions and hands-on training. The Centre and the Garage is dedicated to crafting and advancing 5G and AIoT solutions tailored for enterprises, primarily through proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives that pave the way for widespread adoption.
