Dear Subscriber,
We are all deeply troubled and appalled by the unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine. The war is creating the worst humanitarian crisis in Europe since World War II, and although far away, we are starting to feel its repercussions also in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Swedish Chambers International (SCI), representing all SwedChams around the world, issued the following statement last week:
"The Swedish Chambers International is deeply shocked by the devastating war in Ukraine, and we are horrified by the acts of violence against innocent people.
Our organization is founded upon the belief that international cooperation, free trade, and the rule of law are fundamental to advancing society. It is through these principles we promote global stability and prosperity.
We welcome the strong commitment from the Swedish business community everywhere to help Ukraine and its people."

Regulatory challenges with digital trade |
Next week we have a unique opportunity to learn more about what regulatory hurdles businesses are likely to encounter when launching into digital trade, as three senior lawyers from SwedCham's Gold Sponsor Rajah & Tann will visit our zoom room.
Kala Anandarajah, Partner and Head of Competition & Antitrust and Trade, Tanya Tang, Partner and Chief Economic & Policy Advisor and Alvin Tan, Partner, Competition & Antitrust and Trade at Rajah & Tann will discuss regulatory macro issues but also deep dive into critical compliance issues that businesses must be aware of when launching digital trade. This includes exports control, how to take advantage of preferential treatment, complying with data protection and consumer protection laws, managing competition/ antitrust concerns, and arriving at a common landing between the different laws of multiple jurisdictions.

(information in Swedish about Sweden's election on 11 September 2022)
