Dear Subscriber,
Merry Everything and Happy Always!
As we are fast approaching the festive season, SwedCham would like to take this opportunity to thank our Members and extended business community in Singapore for a fantastic year. Thanks to all of you, SwedCham's membership base has not only grown in absolute terms, our reach within our member companies has also improved significantly over the past year. We are excited that our events and activities are attracting more and more people from different divisions and departments within our member companies. And as we are approaching 3000 followers on LinkedIn, our business community in Singapore and beyond is growing day by day.
There are still stormy waters out there, but our mission remains the same: To continue to provide an excellent platform for Swedish companies to shine, grow and collaborate cross-industry in Singapore and beyond. We hope to have your continued support also for the coming 12 months.
For you who have not done so already, a gentle nudge not to forget to pay your membership fee for 2023 before the Christmas holidays. As you know, SwedCham is an independent membership organization with limited resources. Our membership fees cover all our fixed costs, such as office and staff. It would help us a lot in our planning for the coming year to know that we have your support also for 2023.
And last but not least: For you who are interested in Swedish cultural traditions, don't miss SWEA Singapore's annual Lucia procession on Tuesday, 13 December, at 7 pm at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. Tickets can be bought HERE.
We wish all of you a very merry Christmas and a good start to 2023!
Please find below the latest news from our business community.

As we know well, nothing remains status quo in Singapore. With the help of SwedCham Member Pagero and Silver Sponsor K2 Corporate Mobility, we aim to support your knowledge development in December and January within two important and distinctive areas: - Digitalisation of business processes: Incentive scheme launched in November by Singapore Government
- Immigration: How to navigate COMPASS, the new immigration framework.
More details below. |
|
Are you planning to digitalise your invoicing system? Now is the time to do it.
Singapore's Government has just launched a range of incentive grants to encourage larger enterprises to digitalise their business documents, starting from invoices. On Thursday 15 December, Raymond Lam from SwedCham Member Pagero will explain how companies easily can apply for and receive these grants from IMDA.

Full house at LeBar Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa as SwedCham's Women4Women Forum hosted a women's cross-chamber AW on 10 November. 100+ professional women met up for this opportunity to connect across 11 European Chambers of Commerce - in true resort-style. Given the crowd and the buzz at LeBar, we clearly need to cross paths more often. |

Temasek visit in Bukit Batok |
|
|
|
Last week, we were honoured to have Temasek Trust (Temasek Shophouse Management) and Temasek Foundation (Community Network and Partnerships) visiting SwedCham's new local outreach initiative The Green Innovation Centre (GIC) in Bukit Batok, to learn more about this unique collaborative project which focuses on supporting Singapore in implementing the SG Green Plan 2030 on grass root level.
Through this initiative, we have linked arms with a garden community in Bukit Batok as well as with South West CDC and the People's Association in Bukit Batok. Based on a collaborative bottom-up process, the project is aiming to support the community in exploring a sustainable urban lifestyle with knowledge, solutions and services around the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) and green living (gardening and connecting with nature). SwedCham's team is partnering with schools, sustainability-focused local SMEs and resident volunteers to create an agora at this garden, which has been lovingly built by local volunteers over the past decade, where people of all ages can meet and learn about sustainable urban living. The project includes, for example, to build a therapeutic corner in the garden for elderly and physically impaired and to create an activity area for knowledge development workshops for people of all ages. For SwedCham’s Sponsors, there are opportunities to get involved in 3R activity workshops (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle), staff volunteering, improving the garden concept with smart tech solutions, mentoring/engaging with local SMEs - or just sponsor a good cause.
We hope that this program will replicate and initiate more people and companies to engage in this important work in Singapore. Through partnership and collaboration between businesses and communities, we have no doubt that the SG Green Plan can be successful.

SwedCham's Young Professionals network gave their Members a unique opportunity in November, as they organised a company visit at the Swedish creative agency Forsman & Bodenfors.
The attendees got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into how award winning advertising campaigns are born, and the first hand story of how the agency applies its Swedish corporate values in an Asian context.
They also got the rare opportunity to test their creative minds in a strategic ideation exercise guided by the people behind iconic campaigns for SK-II, GoJek, SESG and many others. |
