We are very proud to announce that we will have Mr Jonas Samuelson, Group CEO at Electrolux, as our guest at the launch of our new SwedCham APAC CEO Series on 15 February.
Electrolux, one of Sweden’s flagship multinational companies, is at the forefront of the appliances industry, employing some 48,000 people globally and with operations throughout the APAC region. During the past decade, the empowered consumer, her needs and demands, have transformed the appliance industry. These demands require manufacturing with increased pace and flexibility, which have, in combination with an ever-changing business environment, provided unprecedented industry challenges - for Electrolux included.
During the hour with Mr Samuelson, we will hear how he approaches the global challenges the world is facing today, and how Electrolux is committed to leading the way towards a more sustainable business model for its industry. Mr Samuelson will give us an insight into how Electrolux company strategy has evolved over the past decade and what his top priorities are going forward. We will also find out his views on APAC - how he thinks this region will develop over the coming decade and how Electrolux will leverage its current presence in Asian markets to accelerate growth and prosperity.

|Join our #DoubleUp pledge!|
In December, SwedCham launched a new initiative on gender equality called #candid: 100 Perspectives on Gender Equality in Singapore to celebrate 2021, Singapore's Year of the Woman. In conjunction with this launch, nine SwedCham companies joined forces to pledge to implement a doubling up of paternity leave within their organisations in Singapore from two weeks (government sponsored leave) to four weeks during 2022. As you might have seen, these activities have received a lot of attention in media over the past months - 18 articles and counting.
We will keep the pledge open until International Women's Day on 8 March, and we hope that, by that date, we will have more companies joining us. Gender equality is a priority topic in Singapore right now and the business community has a unique opportunity to join forces in order to create real change.
From the pledge:
"Businesses have the choice to intentionally build a corporate culture that does not simply tolerate, but encourages fathers to be there for their baby. ... By promoting paternity leave, we can create a ripple effect towards equality. A truly equal workplace will ultimately level the playing field for both men and women, at home and at work."

|Strindberg's Miss Julie in Singapore|
It’s Chinese New Year and celebrations are in full swing across post-war Singapore. Julie, daughter of a British tycoon, crashes the servants’ party downstairs. But what starts as a game descends into a fight for survival, as sex, power, money and race collide.
In playwright Amy Ng’s adaptation, Miss Julie transports us into a tumultuous era, where the disintegration of the British Empire is set against the rising consciousness of nationalism sweeping across Asia.
Co-produced by Singapore Repertory Theatre and Hong Kong Arts Festival, this is a startlingly provocative play where differences of class and race rub against each other like tectonic plates, resulting in an eruption of sexual powerplay and class manipulation. Gripping to the very end, Miss Julie challenges preconceptions about racial supremacy, sexuality and taboo relationships.
