Greater Bay Area - Market Outlook

David Hallgren is Sweden’s Trade Commissioner in China and head of the market area Greater China at Business Sweden. Joined Business Sweden in 2016 and has 12+ years of experience in consulting with leading Swedish multinationals in the areas of growth and business transformation. In the role as Trade Commissioner to China he leads business promotion efforts across Greater China with a particular focus on sectors such as Life science, Clean tech, Smart Cities and Food.

Van Hoang is the Swedish Trade Commissioner for Hong Kong & Macau and Head of Business Sweden for Greater Bay Area, China based in Hong Kong. He is also taking a role as Chairman for Nordic Innovation House in Hong Kong.

Mr. Hoang has extensive experience of consulting SMEs, multinationals and leading Asian enterprises in internationalization and business growth, formerly as Country Manager for East, West & South China, Swedish Trade Council based in Shanghai, and being Manager as well as Engineer for various positions in Taiwan since 2002.

Johan Nylander is an award-winning author and freelancing China and Asia correspondent. He’s frequently published by CNN, Forbes and Sweden’s leading business daily Dagens Industri. He’s the author of “Shenzhen Superstars – How China’s smartest city is challenging Silicon Valley”, a short read that became an Amazon bestseller.

Now, Mr Nylander frequently gives speeches about Shenzhen and Chinese business and tech trends. He’s been speaking at events for international banks and consumer brands, such as JP Morgan and Calvin Klein, as well as the European Chambers of Commerce, Asia Society, the Rotary Club, etc.

For almost two decades he’s covered news from a wide range of countries. Today, he spends most of my time traveling China and neighboring countries, conducting interviews with presidents and peasants, entrepreneurs and migrant workers, triad members and government officials; all those who shape tomorrow’s Asia. During the 2008 financial crisis he was stationed as foreign correspondent in London. He’s got an MBA from the University of Gothenburg in his native Sweden, and is the author of an award-winning management book called Simplify (Förenkla, Liber publishing).
